Scheduled Maintenance - Catalog

SirsiDynix will perform server maintenance that will affect the Pumerantz Library Online Catalog (Enterprise) (https://whsl.ent.sirsi.net/) on Thursday, December 9 from 1 am to 2 am PT.

This will affect "My Account" features. You will not be able to log in to renew items or place items on hold. 

Electronic Resources will be available through the Library’s webpages (www.westernu.edu/library).

The Pumerantz Library Discovery Search box on the library's homepage is not functioning correctly.

DynaMed maintenance

DynaMed will be performing scheduled maintenance on Tuesday, November 16th, 2021 from 3:00 AM PST and lasting until 7:00 AM PST.  During this time, the DynaMed interface will be available, however, the Follow feature will be temporarily unavailable while the maintenance in being performed.

End users will notice:

  • Users will not be able access their followed list of topics.
  • Updates to followed topics will not appear on the homepage.
  • Topic pages will appear as if they are not followed.
  • If a user attempts to follow a topic during the maintenance, they will receive an error.

Once the maintenance has been completed, DynaMed users will again be able to follow topics and manage their previously followed content.

Ful Text Finder Down

UPDATE: The full text finder is now fixed. 11/8/2021 3:32 pm

The Pumerantz Library's full text finder button (  ) is currently not working.  The vendor is aware of the problem and working on a fix.  

As a workaround, you can look up the journal name on our ejournal search page to see if we have access.

Wiley Online Library down

UPDATE: The Wiley Online Library is now working. 10/26/2021 3:58 pm

 The Wiley Online Library, which includes their ejournals and ebooks, is currently down.  They have been contacted and we will update this blog when the problem has been resolved.

Library Catalog (Enterprise) – Maintenance downtime 10/27/2021 9 pm

SirsiDynix will perform database maintenance on our Library Catalog Enterprise on Wednesday, October 27. It will be unavailable for 1 hour starting at 9 pm PT.

ILLiad down for maintenance on Oct 21 from 6 a.m. to 8 a.m.

UPDATE: Maintenance complete. ILLiad is available for use. 10/21/2021 7:33 am

The Interlibrary Loan and Document Delivery system, ILLiad, will be unavailable due to scheduled maintenance on Thursday, October 21 starting at 6 a.m. PT. Expected downtime is 2 hours.

During this time, you will be unable to submit or retrieve requests from the ILLiad website.

Electronic Resources (https://www.westernu.edu/library/) will still be available.

Anatomy.tv is giving an ERR_EMPTY_RESPONSE error and will not load.  We are looking into the problem and will update this blog when it is resolved.

EZProxy Downtime

WesternU IT is performing an upgrade on the library’s EZProxy application during tonight’s (Friday, 8/20) IT monthly maintenance window from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. PT.

This will affect access to the library’s Electronic Resources. You might not be able to access all resources. 

If you are not able to access Electronic Resources after 8 p.m., please contact libsupport@westernu.edu or submit the Report a Problem form.

Visible Body downtime

 Visible Body will be doing some maintenance to update security and stability issues on June 30th.  The downtime is scheduled to begin at 5:00 am PDT.  During the upgrade rollout, users will experience brief disruptions.  These disruptions are expected to last less than 30 minutes and might include: 

  • Limited or no access to the web versions of Visible Body
  • Inability to unlock new mobile downloads or extend the activation period of downloadable mobile apps
  • Inability to create new Visible Body user accounts or access and sync current accounts

When the upgrades are done, all features will function as expected.  If you have any questions, please email reference@westernu.edu.

Anatomy.tv 3D Dentistry & 3D Leg, Ankle, and Foot 404 error

UPDATE: A fix has been implemented and the links are working again. 6/15/21 7:21 AM

The Anatomy.tv - 3D Dentistry & Anatomy.tv - 3D Leg, Ankle, and Foot modules go to a 404 error page when you click on the direct link from the E-Resources page.  You can click on the main Anatomy.tv link and navigate to the modules using the Titles tab, or close the window and click on the links from the E-Resources page again.  We are in contact with the vendor and will update this blog with any new information.

eBook search displaying titles we don't have access to

UPDATE: The problem has been fixed. 6/14/21 1:15 PM

When performing a search using the ebook tab on the library's homepage the results are displaying ebooks that the library does not own.  If there is a link that says "PDF Full Text" or "Full-text access for WesternU students, faculty, & staff" then we do have access to the ebook.  The image below shows an ebook we do not own.  There is no full text link to click on and the book cover is not displayed.


We will update this blog when the problem has been fixed.

The Anatomy.tv - 3D Leg, Ankle, and Foot module goes to a 404 page not found error the first time it is clicked on.  Please close the window and click on the link again to access.  We have contacted the provider about the error and will update this blog when the problem is resolved.

Warning when using library homepage search box

UPDATE: This issue has been fixed. 2/26/21 3:40 PM

When using the Pumerantz Library Discovery Service search box on the library's homepage, it has a security warning on most browsers that you need to click through.  It is safe to click through and use the search box.  We are working with our vendor to find a fix. We will update this blog post with any additional information.

The username and password for VisionCite is not working.  We are looking into the problem and will update this blog when we have more information.

Link resolver down in Embase database

UPDATE: The link resolver is now working. 1/11/21 7:28 AM  

Our link resolver (Pumerantz Library Full Text Locator button) is not working in the Embase database.  We have contacted their customer support and will update this blog when the problem is resolved.  If you need to check if we have access to an article you found in Embase, you can look up the journal name in our journal search database.
